Hydrogen Simplified.

Zero Emission Industries, previously Golden Gate Zero Emission Marine, is a hydrogen technology company with a proven track record that develops innovative products/solutions that solve critical challenges preventing wide scale deployment and adoption of hydrogen. ZEI is the technology company behind the world's first hydrogen fuel cell commercial marine vessel, The Sea Change.

Hydrogen Simplified

In 2020 the world realized the value and importance of hydrogen technology. Many new groups have emerged in the last 18 months claiming to be able to deliver functional real world solutions for Mobility, Trucking, Marine and other power systems. The overwhelming majority can't deliver. In fact most don't even have the experience to even understand why they will fail to build functional technology.

So we decided to do something about it. Starting in 2022 we will introduce an entire new family of storage, safety, and power systems that other companies can use to deliver on their big promises. Systems that will make using hydrogen technology easier than working with Li-ion batteries.. So stay tuned.

Introducing the Worlds First H2FC Small Fast Harbor Craft

The Small Fast Harbor Craft Project will showcase a totally new ZEI hydrogen power system, it will in fact be the most powerful operationally diverse zero emission powertrain in maritime history. The powertrain consists of a state-of-the-art hydrogen storage system, fuel cell power system, safety system, control and automation system allowing for a powertrain with increased range, simple maintenance, and no emissions.

Additionally, the Small Fast Harbor Craft showcase will develop Zero Emission Industry’s portable refueling infrastructure, a technological breakthrough which will solve the fundamental challenge of refueling hydrogen powertrains safely and economically, a barrier that has hindered greater hydrogen fuel cell implementation.

Vessels of this size have a wide variety of uses: patrol, fire/rescue, fishing, pilot, excursion, ferry/taxi, and recreation. There are, however, few, if any, viable zero emission solutions for this market. The modular scalable powertrain showcased in this project will meet this critical need for the market as a whole.

Worlds First Commercial Fuel Cell Vessel

The Sea Change (a.k.a. Water-Go-Round) will be the first hydrogen fuel cell vessel in the US and the first commercial fuel cell ferry in the world. It serves as proof that hydrogen fuel cells can be successfully utilized on commercial marine vessels and represents a global paradigm shift for the maritime industry.

The vessel is designed to carry 84 passengers at a top speed of 22 knots, with minimal noise and vibration, and emitting nothing but warm water vapor – water pure enough that the passengers onboard will be able to drink it.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

  • 360kw of H2 Fuel Cells
  • H2 tank array (242 kg, 250 bar, up to 2 full days operation
  • 2x 300 kW (400 hp) shaft motors
  • 100 kWh Li-Ion batteries
  • 360kw of H2 Fuel Cells
  • H2 tank array (242 kg, 250 bar, up to 2 full days operation
  • 2x 300 kW (400 hp) shaft motors
  • Fueled by Zero Emissions Industries' Zero Infrastructure solution
